After the string of fatal accidents happening on Horry County roads this year, police officers are joining forces to target aggressive drivers this weekend.

Horry County, Myrtle Beach, and SC Highway Patrol will be looking for those who are aggressive and/or distracted and that pose a threat to others on the roadways.

With the influx of traffic to the beach, distractions, and people in a rush, accidents are much easier to come by. By making their presence known, police hope to remind drivers to take their time and get back to the basics of driving.

Officers will focus on heavily driven highways like Highway 501 and Highway 17. With more proactive enforcement of laws, police officers want to stop accidents from happening, especially fatal ones. This is part of the Target Zero campaign across the state that wants to see zero deaths due to car accidents.
