Founded in 1991 in Conway, SC by Attorney Dirk J. Derrick, Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers has grown from a small local office into a statewide practice. Over the last decade, the firm has expanded to ten office locations with six in-house courtrooms, 33 attorneys, and over 60 staff members.

Committed to educating South Carolinians about their legal rights, Dirk now co-hosts The Legal Truth podcast with Pearl Carey, the firm’s Creative Marketing Manager. The show offers practical insights into state laws, legal processes, and common misconceptions that can affect personal injury claims. Supporting Student-Athletes Across the State
The “Get Seen, Get Paid” Athletic Camp Scholarship was created in honor of Attorney Derrick’s father, Julius Derrick. Julius was an orphan at Epworth Children’s Home when he received a football scholarship at the University of South Carolina.
He later used his education to be a teacher and coach. Through football, and the principles of hard work, discipline, unity, and perseverance, he transformed his own life, the lives of his family members, and influenced thousands of young people through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Dirk established these football camp scholarships to help talented student-athletes with strong work ethics attend camps and pursue athletic scholarships. Since 2019, over 160 athletic camp scholarships have been awarded.
Working To Get Our Clients Real Value Faster
Beyond providing free information and scholarships to deserving student-athletes, Derrick Law Firm has developed an innovative jury research focus group service to better understand community standards and achieve fair case outcomes more efficiently. Launched in 2019, this program has gathered personal data from more than 19,000 South Carolinians and recorded opinions from over 10,000 mock jurors.
Partnering with data scientists, the firm created a proprietary database to analyze juror responses - insight that helps attorneys negotiate settlements and reduce the need for lengthy litigation.
The firm now provides focus group jury research services nationwide helping attorneys throughout the country build stronger cases, properly evaluate their cases, and present their cases at trial in a data-proven manner.
How To Participate in a Jury Research Focus Group
Members of the community can participate in these research sessions by serving on a focus group jury. Participants review the facts of real cases, share feedback, and earn $25 per hour for their time.
