Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for your interest in a Jury Research Focus Group at Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers. If you would like to participate in a focus group and live in South Carolina, please fill out the survey below. If you have completed your survey, you will receive an email regarding your availability when focus groups arise. If you have previously participated, please do not fill out the survey again. For more information, scroll down below the survey.

This survey is approximately 100 questions (depending on responses) and takes an average of 20 minutes to complete. We will ask you about your background and your opinions on different topics. Your name and contact information will be kept confidential and will not be given or sold to any third party. We use the information gathered in surveys to learn more about people with different backgrounds and life experiences for jury research. This allows us to see what similar jurors may believe if selected for a jury.

If you have any questions, please contact our Focus Group Coordinator, Brooke Holden, at 843-995-6073.

Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers is looking for individuals across the state of South Carolina who would like to participate in a focus group and give us their opinions on a broad range of issues as well as on the specifics of our cases. Derrick Law Firm hosts focus group events online and onsite at its office locations, including Conway, Myrtle Beach, North Charleston and Columbia.

Onsite juror participants receive a digital payment of $100 for their time.

Virtual juror participants receive a digital payment of $25 per hour for the duration of the event. Virtual event duration varies from 1 hour to 4 hours.

Your participation is a one-time commitment.

This will not be an ongoing responsibility, but a one-time event, unless you wish to participate again in the future after all of the participants who have signed up have had an opportunity to serve.

Food and beverage will be provided during each onsite session.

Each person who completes the initial survey will be contacted to make sure they are available for a specific night or a specific day.

PAST PARTICIPANTS:

There is no need to complete the survey again as all previous information has been saved.

Participants that are returning will be scheduled as alternates for the events.

If all juror participants are able to serve when a focus group is ready to begin, alternates who are dismissed will receive $40 each.  In the event one or more jurors are not able to serve, alternates may be selected to serve as jurors and will instead receive a digital payment of $100 for their service.

In addition, Derrick Law Firm hosts all-day focus group events. Juror participants will receive a digital payment of $200 in exchange for their time and participation.
