Ford Motors recently announced a recall for some of its midsize sedans in North America. The recall came about after reports that seat belts might not hold people in the event of an auto accident.
Cars included in the recall are certain 2013 to 2016 Ford Fusions, 2013 to 2015 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015-2016 Ford Mondeo models.
Ford says that heat is generated when seat belt pre-tensioners deploy and can cause cables to break. Should that happen in an accident, the seat belts might not hold passengers.
If your Ford or Lincoln is included in the recall, your dealer will inject insulation into the pre-tensioners to protect the cables from overheating at no charge.
The recall is set to begin on January 16, 2017.
