Derrick Law Firm Sponsors Run for the Children 5K Race

Conway, SC- The Derrick Law Firm will sponsor its first annual Run for the Children 5K race, January 5, 2013, in historic downtown Conway. All registration fees will benefit the Children’s Mentoring Program of Horry County.

"We plan to make this run an annual event that will benefit the Children’s Mentoring Program as well as create more community involvement from locals," says Dirk Derrick, attorney and owner of the Derrick Law Firm.

Mr. Derrick hopes that this event will grow into a popular race that will give much support to the mentoring program that his parents started many years ago. The program focuses on students who are missing a significant male or female figure in their lives. The Children’s Mentoring Program is a non-profit organization that is a supported by the United Way as well as through donations from local churches, businesses, and individuals.

Race Director, Holly Littles, who works as the client liaison and public relations specialist for the Derrick Law Firm says, "The route of this race is great for many skill levels. There are flat straightaways as well as slopping hills that will motivate and challenge runners."

The race will begin bright and early at 8:00am at the Marina Park in downtown Conway. Runners and walkers will then travel the 3.1 miles route along the oak-lined streets and cross the finish line back at the waterfront.

Participants will compete for Top Female and Top Male awards in each age category as well as the Overall Female and Male runners. Age categories are as follows: Under 19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and up.

Participants will also receive a Run for Children 5K race t-shirt if they register by December 15, 2012. Registration fees are $25. The event t-shirts will be sponsored by the Derrick Law Firm.

Those interested in participating in the race can register online at www.grandstrandrunner.com or they may download a form and mail to Derrick Law Firm, C/O Holly Littles, P.O.
