The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Bumbo International are again urging parents and caregivers never to place Bumbo baby seats on tables, countertops, chairs and other raised surfaces because of the serious risk of injury.

At least 45 incidents have occurred in which infants fell out of the Bumbo seat while it was being used on an elevated surface. 17 infants suffered skull fractures after falling from the seats since the initial recall in October 2007. The CPSC and Bumbo are also aware of 50 additional reports of infants falling or maneuvering out of the seats even while they were placed on the floor and becomming injured after hitting their heads on the floor or nearby toys.

The CPSC and Bumbo continue to warn parents and caretakers about the risks and urge them to take all safety precautions.
