A Myrtle Beach resort renovated their pool area to include a children's pool play area.
In the children's area, a chain was draped across a sidewalk, across the pool and across another part of the sidewalk. A seven-year-old boy was playing in the area and got caught on the chain. He fractured his collarbone and went to the ER.
The Derrick Law Firm investigated this incident and found the hotel was negligent in having the chain according to DHEC regulations. A soft, netting would have been sufficient to divide the area. This child's injuries did eventually heal and his case settled according to his damages and the hotel's negligence.
Today, the chain has been removed and the proper netting is in place.
