Second Annual Run for the Children 5K in Downtown Conway

Conway, SC- The Second Annual Run for the Children 5K, sponsored by Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers, is March 22, 2014 in downtown Conway. All registration fees directly support the Children's Mentoring Program of Horry County.

"I'm looking forward to the 2nd Annual Run for the Children. We pushed it from January to March to give those New Year resolutions 80 days to get everyone ready to run," says Dirk Derrick, attorney and owner of Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers.

The inaugural race was held on a beautiful but extremely chilly Saturday morning. Over 70 runners showed their support for the race despite the cold and made the event a successful one.

Local support for the race is important because it brings awareness to The Children's Mentoring Program of Horry County. The mentoring program focuses on students who are missing a significant male or female figure in their lives. This non-profit organization is also supported by the United Way as well as through donations from the community.

The Run for the Children 5K will begin at 8am at the Marina Park in downtown Conway. Both runners and walkers will have an hour to complete the 3.1 miles coursed throughout the streets of the historic downtown area.

Participants will compete for Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female awards in each age category as well as Overall Male and Female runners. Age categories are as follows: Under 18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and up.

For those registered by March 14, 2014, they will receive a race t-shirt. The event t-shirts will be sponsored by Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers.

Those interested in participating in the race can register online at www.grandstrandrunner.com or they may download a form from the site and mail to Derrick Law Firm, C/O Holly Littles, P.O. Box 28, 29526. Volunteers should contact Holly at 843-488-5360 or [email protected]. Participants can pick up their registration materials between 7:00AM-7:45AM on the morning of the race.
