Participants in the race varied from the youngest at age eleven to the oldest at seventy-nine years old. Some walked with friends and family while others competed for the awards. Mother and daughter team, Betty Jordan and Nora Godbolt used the Run for the Children 5K to exercise and spend time together. “This was our first race, and I really enjoyed it! I look forward to doing it again next year,” said Godbolt. All the participants however, were there to support the Children’s Mentoring Program of Horry County.
Attorney Dirk Derrick, of Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers, handed out awards to the winners and thanked everyone for their support. “I think the race went well for our first time and we appreciate all the support from participants and the volunteers. All the money from the
registration fees will go directly to the Children’s Mentoring Program, and we hope to see this race grow in the future.”
