Khari “Skip” Ford is from Kingland, GA, a small Navy town in southern Georgia. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he was a research assistant for the college’s sesquicentennial history project and an archives intern at the university center’s library. Skip earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Morehouse before subsequently earning his commission as Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
While active in the Marine Corps, Skip earned the Combat Engineer Officer specialty and served oversees in Kuwait, Bahrain, and combat operations in Iraq. He also made Marines on the Recruit Depot in Beaufort, South Carolina and acted as a victim advocate for survivors of sexual assault. Skip presently holds the rank of Major, and during his service as a Marine Officer he developed key skills in leadership, time management, and attention to detail.
Skip later moved to Charleston, South Carolina to attend Charleston School of Law. During law school, Skip was a member of the Student Ambassadors, Law Republicans, Black Law Students Association, Second Amendment Association, and was the Student Bar Association Vice President. He was also selected as Pupil member of the James L. Petigru American Inn of Court (2023-2024). Upon his graduation, Skip was inducted into the Forensic Club based on his demonstrated leadership, professionalism, public service, and academic commitment.
Before joining Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers, Skip gained legal experience in personal injury, insurance bad faith, premises liability, contracts, and corporate governance. Outside of the office, Skip is an avid motorcyclist and enjoys the company of his wife and three daughters. Skip is also an active member in the local community as a volunteer with a local sheriff’s department.
