A family driving a miniwan in Myrtle Beach attempted to turn into a private driveway off of Highway 17 when they were struck by a man driving a Mercedes.
The accident occurred around 8 p.m. across from Pirateland Family Camping Resort.
Two young girls, Skyler Emore, 9, and Dakota Shepherd, 11, from North Carolina, were killed in the accident. The other passengers in the van were taken to the hospital for injuries.
After hitting the miniwan, the Mercedes hit a parked vehicle that was in the parking lot.
The driver of the Mercedes, Neil Joseph DeJean, 47, of Duson, La was charged with two counts of reckless homicide caused by injury from a vehicle and one count of open alcohol container.
