An overturned rig on I-95 led to the death of one individual and the injury of two others early Friday morning.

The southbound lanes of I-95 in South Carolina remained blocked early Friday morning as four accident crews worked to extricate three people trapped in the cab of a tractor-trailer. The wreck occurred around 4 am near the 176 crossover south of Santee in Orangeburg County. One person has been pronounced dead. The two others are injured.

Highway Patrol has detoured traffic north of I-26 and closed 176 at this time as fire department crews, three heavy wreckers and two helicopters work on the scene.
