The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall on behalf of Sony for VAIO laptop computers for a possible burn hazard.

23,000 VAIO notebook computers were recalled. The computes were manufactured in both the United States and China and were sold between January 2010 and April 2010 with retail values ranging between $800 and $1500.

The computers could overheat causing a burn risk to users. The recalled models include VAIO series VCPF11 and VPCCW2 in various colors.

Consumers should contact Sony for instructions on upgrading the BIOS firmware on their laptop computers which should solve the safety issue.
