The city of Myrtle Beach was awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to survey the area and gauge its safety for bicyclists cruising through the downtown area.
Surveyors will be along Ocean Boulevard today through Thursday between Third Avenue South and 31st Avenue North. They will determine any road safety issues and develop solutions to improve the streets.
Myrtle Beach City Planning says their Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Committee is looking forward to having the survey complete. They hoped to have a grant to help with part of the project and are happy to be one of two recipients of the grant.
The survey should give the city a greater vision of how to make the city safer for bicyclists and pedestrians.
