Moped Driver Dies After Running Red Light

A man has died after driving his moped through a red light and hitting a pickup truck Wednesday night in Lexington. 28-year-old Pete Hildebran was driving his moped east on Platt Springs Road near White Knoll High School shortly after 9:oo pm when he disregarded a red light and hit the side of a pickup truck driving north on Highway 6. Hildebran was taken to Lexington Medical center, but was later pronounced dead. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver of the truck was not injured, and the accident is still under investigation.
