A young Georgetown man was pronounced dead at the scene Friday evening in a three-car wreck on U.S. 521 near Salters, S.C.

Charles Phillip Meador, 22, died after his Toyota struck a trailer that had broken loose from the car pulling it, said Williamsburg County Dpty. Coroner Vernal Fulton. A third vehicle driven by 36-year-old Kerry Singleton of Greeleyville ran into a ditch to avoid the initial collision.

The trailer, towed by David Brown, 60, of Manning crossed the center line about 4:40 p.m., police said. Pending any charges, the S.C. Hwy. Patrol is reconstructing the incident.
