The family of a man who was killed last year in an Illinois water processing plant has filed a wrongful death suit against both the plant and a Pennsylvania manufacturer. Jose Meza was working on a construction project at the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant in Chicago when his safety harness became entangled in with the equipment of a skid steer loader. He was then thrown to the ground and crushed to death by the machine.
The suit, filed by his wife, has named the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago in addition to New Holland North America, Inc., the Pennsylvania-based heavy equipment manufacturer who made the loader machine. Meza was an iron worker and the father of three children. His employer, Industrial Fence, Inc. was not named in the lawsuit. The lawsuit seeks at least $50,000 in damages.
