Driver Dead after Hitting Tree in Single Car Accident

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says that the driver of a 1992 Chevy pickup is dead after hitting a tree around 1 AM Sunday morning on Dean Swamp Church Road in Orangeburg County. The driver was going north on Dean Swamp Church Road when they went off the left side of the road, overcorrected, and then went off the right side of the road and hit a tree. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
