A boating incident in Murrells Inlet, SC crushed a fourteen year old girl's hand causing her thumb to later be amputated.

The girl's mother is filing suit against a tourism leader in the local area who was allegedly driving a boat at rapid speeds which caused the water to wake, several boats to collide, and the girl's hand to be smashed between two boats.

The complaint has been filed in federal court against the boat owner, the boat operator, and the boat itself. The boat is registered to Murrells Inlet Epiphany Inc, and the boat operator was Matthew Brittain of Brittain Resort Management.
