South Carolina Highway Patrol says that one person has died and another was injured in a car accident Thursday evening March 31st. The car, a 1991 Acura, was traveling westbound on I-26 near mile maker 75 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and went into the median and struck a tree. The passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car and was pronouced dead at the scene. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the hospital with injuries.

Authorities state that the driver has not been charged in the accident.
