While on the way to play the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, fellow Minor League Baseball Team, the Carolina Mudcats, were involved in an accident when their bus rolled over.
The team bus had been traveling from Virginia to South Carolina and was going around a curve when the bus tipped over onto it's right side. The crash happened about 3:45 AM.
The driver of the bus has since been charged with Exceeding a Safe Speed. The bus driver is also newly employed by Abbott Trailways charter bus line who has a clean record with the American Bus Association.
Eight people were taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with minor injuries and the bus driver seems to be fine according to the team's Director of Broadcasting/Media Relations, Greg Young Jr.
The Tuesday night game against the Pelicans was postponed and then the series was cancelled on Wednesday so players could return home and be medically evaluated.
