Honda has issued a recall of their Odyssey Minivans from model years 2008 and 2009 due to a rear hatch defect. According to reports, the hatch could suddenly close causing danger to a person if they were loading something into the rear of the vehicle.
Honda filed a statement with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administratoin stating that two gas-filled struts that are the support mechanism for the power controlled hatch had a manufacturing flaw. The pressurized gas that ensures the hatch is locked can leak through the struts which decreases the pressure on the whole system and could cause the mechanism to come loose.
The defect could potentially affect any Odyssey vehicle sold during 2008-2009. For more information visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
