GM to phase out cars without airbags

After several GM vehicles did not pass the Latin New Car Assessment Program, General Motors has announced their plan to phase out cars without airbags and other safety features.

The Chevrolet Sail failed its crash test by independent testing organization, the Latin New Car Assessment Program. The Sail received zero stars and was reported to be "unstable and has no airbags. It also lacks three-point seat belts in all positions."

Other Chevrolet cars that have done poorly on tests include the Aveo, Spark, and Agile. All three cars received zeros on their crash tests from the Latin NCAP.

The secretary general of the NCAP said General Motors should follow the example of car brands like Volkswagen, Honda, and Toyota because they produce vehicles that meet and exceed the safety requirements.
