Young Girl Killed In Myrtle Beach Accident

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers are still trying to determine the exact cause of an accident Saturday afternoon that killed a 4-year-old girl and injured several others on Highway 501. The accident happened around 1 pm near the Tanger Outlets in the northbound lanes. According to reports, a commercial tractor-trailer was approaching the intersection of 501 and the outlet stores when it hit an SUV from the rear. The SUV then hit a minivan. 4 people were taken to the hospital with injuries including the little girl that died. Doctors say that Jada Bennett died from head trauma sustained in the accident. She was in a child restraint seat and in the rear seat at the time of the accident.
The accident closed the northbound lanes of U.S. 501 and slowed traffic for more than 3 hours on Saturday. No charges have been brought yet against any driver, however, the accident is still under investigation.
