Waterway boating accident sends one to hospital in Myrtle Beach

A boating accident that took place around 6 pm Sunday evening on the intracoastal waterway in Myrtle Beach has left one man hospitalized. The injured individual, Michael Harrelson, was just south of the Grand Dunes Marina when his boat capsized. He was in the wake of larger vessel, but authorities are still unsure of the cause of the accident. 

 

Emergency response took Harrelson to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach and authorities have said his condition is "not well". There was another individual in Harrelson's boat at the time that it capsized who is said to have remained uninjured. 

 

Myrtle Beach Beach Patrol officers responded to the scene and continued investigation until late Sunday evening. They have said that it could be a couple of days before a final report is released on the accident.
