Victim Identified in Fatal McClellanville Car Accident

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, one person was killed in an early morning car accident on River Road in McClellanville early Sunday, March 27, 2011. The Charleston County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 19-year-old York Maxwell. Another passenger, along with Maxwell, was thrown from the vehicle during the accident.
Investigators say that a Ford Mustang was going north on U.S. 17 around midnight when the car ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, and then overturned. The driver and the other passenger of the car were taken to MUSC with unknown injuries. Neither of the passengers in the car were wearing a seatbelt.
Authorities have charged the driver, Corey Allen Deas, 31, with felony DUI. The accident is still under further investigation.
