Two Car Collision Kills One

One person died after a car accident Monday evening in Orangeburg County. The accident occured on US 178 about 1/2 mile east of Bowman. The highway patrol says that the passenger in a car driven by 29-year-old Wayne Mitchell died in the accident. A second passenger was not injured in the 6:30 pm accident. All passengers were wearing seat belts.
Deputies state that Mitchell was arrested after the accident and charged with DUI and driving under suspension. He collided with Henry Johnson, 28, who was driving a Dodge westbound on the road. Mitchell's car overturned several times; Johnson was taken to the hospital in Orangeburg. Mitchell was detained at the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
