Tractor-trailer crash leads to traffic delays

A tractor-trailer overturned in Georgetown County Wednesday morning causing a portion of U.S. 701 to be closed off to traffic.

No one was injured in the crash, but authorities expect the road to be closed off for at least 3 hours while emergency crews clean up the accident. The driver lost control of his vehicle when he swerved to avoid hitting an animal.

The wreck occurred in the Plantersville community around 4 am early Wednesday morning. Motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route as traffic is detoured around the site of the crash until 11 am.
