Thursday Car Accident Kills 2

A Thursday afternoon crash near Santee claimed the lives of 2 people. The accident involved three cars on the I-95 bridge over Lake Marion around 12 pm. The two deaths were the the driver and passenger of a 2010 Chevy Impala that became sandwiched between two other cars. Both of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to reports, all three cars were traveling northbound when the accident happened. A 2006 Dodge truck driven by Craig Sairchok struck the rear of the Impala which then struck the rear of a 2007 Honda driven by Denise Pestaro. The Impala and the Honda were slowing for traffic when the truck struck them. The two people in Sairchok's truck and the four people in the Honda were all wearing seatbelts and did not sustain any injuries. Sairchok was taken to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

The SC Highway patrol is continuing to investigate this accident.
