The Victim of a Fatal Car Accident Sunday Morning on I-26 has Been Identified

A 30-year old man was killed and two others were rushed to the hospital after a fiery collision Sunday morning on I-26 near Ridgeville.  According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after midnight near mile marker 189.  A Ford SUV ran into the median, returned back to the roadway and hit a car, then drove off the right side of the interstate.  The SUV struck several trees and burst into flames.  The driver, Gerald Adam Metts, died in the accident.  The two other passengers in the SUV were taken to Trident Medical Center for treatment. 

State troopes confirmed that they received a report minutes before the accident that the SUV was driving erratically.  The accident remains under investigation.
