Teen Killed in Car Accident Monday Night

A Kershaw County teen is dead after a car accident Monday night on Springvale Road. Larry Lee Hurst, 18, was the passenger in Chris Potter's Ford Ranger truck and was killed after a head-on collision with another SUV. Kershaw County Coroner Johnny Fellers said that Hurst died at the scene.

According to authorities, Potter was driving south on Springvale road when he collided head-on with a SUV traveling in the opposite direction. Potter nor Hurst was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the SUV was flown to the Palmetto Health Richland and Potter was taken via ambulance.

S.C. troopers say the accident remains under investigation and Potter has been charged with one count of felony DUI involving death and one count of felony DUI involving great bodily injury.
