Summerville Man Charged After Hitting Deputy's Patrol Car

A Charleston man has been charged after he wrecked his car by hitting a deputies patrol car on I-26 Monday night. The SC Highway Patrol has charged Robert Blankonship with driving too fast for conditions after he hit a patrol car near Aviation Avenue on I-26 around 6 pm. The deputy had slowed down for traffic and was hit from behind which caused two other cars to be hit as well. The deputy was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The police continue to investigate the accident.
