Subaru recalls over 30,000 cars

Subaru recently decided on a recall for over 30,000 of its vehicles with faulty airbag systems.

The airbag systems are found to malfunction and not inflate during a crash if certain circumstances exist. If a phone or music player is plugged in or if a passenger is touching metal like the seat adjustment lever, the system that detects the size of a passenger can malfunction.

The recall will affect Subaru Imprezas from the 2012 model year including both the station wagon Impreza and the four-door Impreza. This recall does not affect the WRX/STI models.

Owners of said Subarus should take their vehicles to their dealer where they will replace the occupant control unit at no cost.
