South Carolina woman gets 18 years in prison for fatal DUI wreck

Mallory Hood, 22, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to felony driving under the influence. She admitted she had been driving drunk when she ran over a motorcyclist whose bike had fallen over at a stoplight.

 

Justin Elliot, 24, was killed in the May 2008 wreck while he had been riding on U.S. 17 in Mount Pleasant. Elliot was with three other bikers stopped at a stoplight. When the light turned green, Elliot fell and was run over by Hood, who was driving a Ford Explorer. 

 

Hood's blood-alcohol level three hours after the wreck was at 0.26 percent, more than three times over the legal limit in South Carolina.
