South Carolina Man Dies in Boating Accident in Grand Canyon National Park

Park Rangers from Grand Canyon National Park recovered the body of a South Carolina man who died in a tragic boating accident on the Colorado River. 39-year-old James J. Waring was part of a six person private river trip that lauched from Lees Ferry. There were two boats, each carrying three people and one of the boats overturned. Waring was carried down river. A passing commercial boat pulled him from the river and administered CPR but were unsuccessful. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to the county's medical examiner's facility in Flagstaff.
