One Person Airlifted After Accident Closes Part of Highway 544

A portion of Highway 544 was closed Thursday afternoon after an accident in the Carolina Lakes Blvd. area. The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. when a single truck crashed into some trees just short of the entrance to Carolina Lakes Blvd. It took Horry County rescue crews 45 minutes to free the driver from the truck. The driver was then airlifted to an area hospital to be treated for injuries. The driver's condition is unknown at this time.
The SC Highway Patrol is investigating this accident.
