One Dead and Six Injured in Crash Involving an Ambulance

An accident involving an ambulance and another car in Orangeburg Sunday morning killed one person and sent six others to the hospital. At around 7:30 A.M. Sunday on Magnolia Street at Stiliton Road, investigators say a 4-door Dodge collided with a Bamburg County ambulance carrying a mother and her newborn child.
A passenger in the Dodge, 23 year old Christopher Harrison, died and the driver, 22 year old Zachary Thomas was taken to Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital for treatment. All 5 occupants of the ambulance were taken to a local hospital for treatment but all the occupants were ok.
Troopers said Monday that they expect to charge the driver of the car, Zachary Thomas with felony DUI. The highway patrol's MAIT team is still investigating the crash.
