One Dead After Car Accident on I-77 in Richland County

Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say that one man has died after a single car accident on I-77 near the Shop Road exit in Columbia. According to the coroner, 40-year-old Jeremy Kirchner of West Columbia died after his Chevy Tahoe left the roadway and struck a concrete bridge support around 9:30 AM Thursday morning. Authorties say he died of mulitple traumas sustained during the accident. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investiation by the SC Highway Patrol.
