Nurse Killed By Distracted Driver

   A Charlotte nurse was killed and another injured in a car accident Sunday when a distracted driver struck them as they walked along a curb, police said.

   Susan Karabulut, 33, was killed after being dragged across the street just outside the White Oak Manor Nursing Home on Craig Avenue in Charlotte, N.C. about 8 a.m. Another nurse, Lisa McIe, 47, is in critical condition.

   Police say Leah Ann Walton, 19, was reaching for her cigarettes, and also had marijuana in her car, when she struck the nurses. Walton's license and registration were revoked at the time.

   She faces reckless driving and drug-related charges, police said. Walton was allegedly in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
