NC Man Charged with DUI After Motorcycle Accident in Surfside Beach

A North Carolina man has been charged in a motorcycle accident in Surfside Beach. On August 11, a motorcycle driven by Jonathan Phillips, 35, who was carrying a female passenger, crashed into a van that was stopped on Melody Lane. The crash caused life-threatening injuries for both Phillips and the female passenger.

Officers were able to determine Phillips was under the influence at the time of the accident and arrested him for felony DUI and possession of marijuana. Phillips long hospital stay delayed his arrest until now.
