Motorcyclist Killed on Highway 17 Thursday Afternoon

A motorcyclist is dead after an accident Thursday afternoon on U.S. 17 Business near Mt. Gilead Road in Murrells Inlet. The deceased, Bernard Sellins, died from head trauma. The accident occurred when a 2000 Nissan Maxima stopped at a red light going south and was struck from behind by the 2003 Honda motorcycle. Sellins was not wearing a helemt at the time of the accident. The passenger and driver of the car were wearing seatbelts and were not injured in the accident.

The highway patrol continues to investigate the accident.
