A motorcyclist has been charged with DUI after a motorcycle accident in Horry County late Thursday. Ernest Groves, 40, was charged in connection to the accident that happened on U.S. 17 Business near Offshore Drive, which is 2 miles south of Surfside Beach.

Groves was driving a 2010 Harley Davidson without a helmet when he was involved in a crash with a 2005 Chevy SUV driven by a 21-year-old woman. The motorcycle was driving wrecklessly and Groves lost control of the bike and veered left into the median before falling off the bike. The motorcycle skidded back into the roadway and hit the SUV. Groves was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
