Man killed in crash with ambulance

Stephen Pelet, 25, of Coatsville, Pennsylvania died early Wednesday morning from injuries following a collision with an Horry County Fire Rescue ambulance.

Mr. Pelet was driving Northbound on U.S. 17 Bypass in his 2003 Nissan two-door vehicle when he hit the ambulance in the rear. The ambulance was leaving an intersection near Secondary Highway 801 when the crash occurred late Tuesday evening. Mr. Pelet was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina where he later died from his injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The authorities say no charges are expected to be filed in the crash.
