Man Dies After Collision with Tree

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating a collision in Marlboro County involving a car hitting a tree. The accident killed the driver of the car. According to reports, the accident happened around 5:30 AM on County Line Road when a Ford 4-door car traveling southbound ran off the road and hit a tree. The driver and only occupant of the car, Tommy Jernigan, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Jernigan died of multiple internal injuries and was pronounced dead the scene. The police will continue to investigate the accident.
