Man Charged with DUI After Wreck with Fire Truck

The South Carolina Highway Patrol states that one man has been charged with DUI after the car he was driving collided with the back of a fire truck early Saturday morning. According to the report, the fire truck was parked in the far right lane with the emergency lights on working the scene of an accident near US-17A near Long Street, north of I-26 in Berkeley County. Troopers say that 25-year-old Jonathan Russell crashed his 2003 Mitsubishi into the rear of the fire truck. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
Russell was charged with driving under the influence and not wearing a seatbelt. The Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
