Lawsuit filed against city, park district president over death

The family of a man who drowned during an after-hours pool party has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Blue Island, Illinois and the park district's president.

An after-hours party organized by the Blue Island, Illinois Park District led to the death of Carlos Saldago, 26, claims his family. According to the suit, Fred Bilotto, the park district president, unlocked the pool gate and allowed 30 individuals to enter, including Saldago. The party ended around 2:30 am, with no one realizing Saldago had drowned. His body was not found until later that morning.

The family claims in the suit that alcohol was openly consumed at the party and that no lifeguards were present. It is also claimed that city employees may have attended the party. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.
