Johnson & Johnson recalls additional medicines

Johnson and Johnson has recalled additional over-the-counter medications produced by the same unit, McNeil Consumer Healthcare, responsible for the Children's medication and previous adult Motrin recalls.

McNeil is already under investigation for the April recall of Children's Tylenol and other over-the-counter pediatric medicines. They are now recalling certain lots of adult-dosage Benadryl allergy tablets and Extra Strength Tylenol gel pills.

The company claims that they "inadvertedly omitted" the products from a previous recall involving Motrin and Tylenol Arthritis manufactured at the same McNeil Puerto Rico plant for a moldy odor coming from the products caused by a chemical contamination.

The company also says that the risk of medical issues resulting from use of the product is remote. However, they do encourage consumers to stop using the products. It is unknown at this time how many bottles of the medications the recall affects.
