I-85 North Closed Sunday Morning Near Gaffney After Fatal Car Accident

Two people were confirmed dead after a tractor-trailer ran into a bridge and caught fire on I-85 near Gaffney, SC early Sunday morning. The accident was reported around 2:30 A.M. and shut down I-85 northbound lanes near exit 92. Both the driver and passenger in the tractor-trailer were killed according to reports from the SC Highway Patrol.

Workers with the SC Department of Transportation were called to inspect the damage to the bridge and to determine when the road may be reopened.
