Hit-And-Run Teen's Condition Improves

   The condition of a Georgetown teen injured in a recent hit-and-run accident is improving, says a family friend.

   Jasonn Russell, 16, has been upgraded from critical condition and moved from intensive care to the children's hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston.

   Russell, a Waccamaw High School football player, was hit by a car driven by 18-year-old Thomas Gallagher of Pawleys Island about 11 p.m. Aug. 29 as he walked with a group along Litchfield Rd.

   Gallagher turned himself in to police the next day and has been charged with leaving the scene of a collision with personal injury.

   A fund has been set up on Russell's behalf at Conway National Bank (CNB) to help his family with medical expenses. Donations can be made to the "Benefit for Jasonn Russell" at any CNB branch. They can also be mailed to Conway National Bank, P.O. Box 2490, Murrells Inlet, SC, 29576.
