Head-On Collision Kills 1: Speed and Alcohol Possible Factors

One man is dead after a head-on collision late Thursday night, April 7, 2011. The man crashed head-on into a SUV around 10 P.M. The accident happened on S.C. 20 near Belton according to state troopers. The Anderson County Coroner pronouced Gary Wayne Riley, 40, dead at the scene.
Riley was heading north on S.C. 20 when he lost control of his car in a curve, went off the right side of the road, came back onto the highway and then crossed the center line. He hit a SUV traveling southbound. No one in the SUV was injured, however Riley died of blunt force trauma. According to authorities, speed and alcohol may be have factors in the wreck.
The highway patrol continues to investigate the accident.
